How the dive goes

The night dive is a shore dive: you walk in from the beach, so there is no boat and no fixed departure. The maximum depth is 18 metres and you dive with a lamp.

The lamp changes the dive. The beam becomes the frame, so instead of scanning a whole reef you look closely at one thing at a time, and colour comes back under the light. Considering the daily hustle and bustle both on land and at sea, night is also simply a time to relax, and the fish behave differently from the way they do at noon. An average dive lasts about 45 minutes.

Who this site suits

The minimum category is Advanced and an underwater lamp is required.

A night dive is not deeper or harder than the same dive by day, but it asks for more discipline: you agree light signals before you enter, you stay close to your buddy, and you keep the exit in mind the whole time. If you have never dived in the dark, a shallow shore site like this one is the right place to start.
