Ledenik is a ship that transported fish from the mid-Adriatic to one of its northern ports.
It was built in 1962, and sank in 2008, most likely due to overloading and inclement weather. It currently lies on the sandy seabed at a depth of roughly 28 m next to the island of Sestrunj.
Ledenik rests on a sandy seabed at roughly 28 metres, next to the island of Sestrunj. The trip out is long enough to carry a remote-site surcharge, so we usually plan it as a full outing rather than a quick dive.
The wreck is the dive. It is a ship that carried fish from the mid-Adriatic to one of its northern ports, built in 1962 and sunk in 2008, most likely because it was overloaded in bad weather. You carry a lamp: a wreck has shaded sides and openings where daylight does not reach, and colour comes back the moment you light it. An average dive lasts about 45 minutes.
The minimum category is Open Water, so the depth stays inside entry-level limits, but you still need a dive logged within the past three months and an underwater lamp.
It suits divers who want a wreck without a deep profile. If this is your first wreck, keep the plan simple: one lap around the outside, a look at what the light shows, and a slow ascent.
